Pennoni Announces Associate Vice President Promotions


Pennoni is pleased to announce the promotion of six new Associate Vice Presidents. These promotions are effective immediately.

Erin Bushnell, SPHR, Associate Vice President
Ms. Bushnell serves as the Director of Human Resources and has been with the firm for more than 10 years. She is responsible for the initiation and management of Human Resources programs and policies that further the strategy of the firm. Her areas of expertise include partnering with managers to help achieve corporate goals, employee relations, staff development, corporate training program planning and administration, vendor selection and negotiation, development and interpretation of policies and procedures, benefit and wellness plan design and administration, and 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Ownership Plan administration. She is also skilled in HRIS report writing and data analysis, workers compensation administration, unemployment compensation administration, employee induction and orientation, legal compliance of all employment-related regulations, and Affirmative Action Plan development and administration. Ms. Bushnell is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and serves on the Board of the Junior League of Philadelphia. She is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.
James Markham, PE, Associate Vice President
Mr. Markham serves as the Transportation Division Manager in the Philadelphia office. His group provides professional transportation engineering services to public and private sector clients. His project experience includes traffic studies, roadway design for public and private sector clients, storm drainage design and modification, contract bidding and administration. In addition to his design experience, Mr. Markham assists Pennoni’s municipal clients with the review of land developments within their townships. He is frequently the Project Manager for multi-discipline projects and in that role, calls upon expertise from across the firm. He also frequently presents at public meetings. Mr. Markham is the incoming President Elect of the Engineer’s Club of Philadelphia, and a Past President of ASCE’s Philadelphia Chapter. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and a registered Professional Engineer in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Melissa Rysak, CPSM, Associate Vice President
Ms. Rysak serves as the Director of Corporate Communications and has been with the firm for eight years. Beginning with the firm as the Public Relations Manager, she is responsible for the internal/external communications and marketing efforts of the firm, including the lead distribution and proposal development, staff experience and resumes management, public relations, advertising, website and social media, marketing collateral and campaigns, branding, event planning, internal and external newsletters, media relations, and outreach efforts. Ms. Rysak is also responsible for vendor coordination for many of the firm’s major purchasing categories including print, promotional products, and office supplies. Ms. Rysak is a graduate of Widener University, and is a Certified Professional Services Marketer. She is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and has served the Board of the Philadelphia Chapter as Membership Chair and CPSM Education Chair. She was also a member of the inaugural class of SMPS University. In addition to membership and volunteering in SMPS, Ms. Rysak serves with her husband and son as an Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes.
King of Prussia:
Khaled Hassan, PE, Associate Vice President
Mr. Hassan serves as the Office Director for King of Prussia, PA. He manages the day to day operations for the King of Prussia office, as well as working to cultivate new and existing clients. Mr. Hassan previously served as a Senior Engineer for the Civil/Site/Landscape Architecture Division. Coming from a background of broad knowledge and expertise in Civil/Site Engineering, he has over 18 years of experience in design and construction management, storm and sanitary sewers, road culverts, stream rehabilitation projects, among other types of projects. He also possesses extensive knowledge in project management, zoning and land development. Mr. Hassan has significant experience with public presentations through his role as a Borough and Township Engineer. He is a graduate of Temple University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Hassan is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Mr. Hassan is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Past President of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers’ Philadelphia Chapter. 
Larry Bankert, PE, PTOE, Associate Vice President
Mr. Bankert serves as Transportation Division Manager in the Mechanicsburg office. His professional focus has been in the research, planning, study, design, and funding aspects of transportation infrastructure improvements. His responsibilities include managing clients and professional staff responsible for transportation engineering services in south central Pennsylvania. In addition, Mr. Bankert supports traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, and technology transfer client services nationally. He is a 1994 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. Mr. Bankert is a Past President of ITS Pennsylvania and has served as chair of several committees for the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ local chapter, MASITE. He is also a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. Bankert is a co-founder and serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for Success With Honor, a charitable organization founded in 2012.
Thomas Blank, CIH, CSP, Associate Vice President
Mr. Blank serves as Office Director for the Monroeville office. He is responsible for client service and business development efforts for the Pittsburgh area as well as the management, growth and success of the Monroeville office. He joined Pennoni in 2011 and has an extensive background in the areas of safety and health research, education, toxicology, industrial hygiene, regulatory processes, management of safety, health, and environmental programs, SARA compliance, and process safety/risk management. His past industrial experience also includes process engineering management capabilities. Mr. Blank earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene from Central Missouri State University. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a Certified Safety Professional. Mr. Blank is also an active member and Fellow of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the Allegheny Mountain Section of the Air & Waste Management Association, and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
