Pennoni Associates performed engineering services as part of a Design/Build team led by Minichi Contracting Group for the replacement of an existing single-span steel stringer bridge which had collapsed during the June 2006 flood event. Working closely with PennDOT and the conceptual design, Pennoni prepared the final bridge, roadway, maintenance and protection of traffic, temporary signal, erosion and sedimentation pollution control and right-of-way plans for a single span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge. The new bridge is supported by reinforced concrete cantilever abutments with a 94’-0” wingwall extension. PennDOT’s installation of a single lane temporary truss bridge allowed for staged construction. Pennoni prepared the traffic control and temporary signal plans for the various stages of construction.
