Wastewater Facility Planning
East Goshen Township, PA

On behalf of East Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennoni Associates has provided wastewater facilities planning for several projects.

Wastewater Needs Evaluation, East Goshen Township, PA
Identification and evaluation of wastewater needs in the Township to evaluate alternatives for future wastewater management. Worked with Township Staff to identify wastewater capacity commitments; currently planned development and associated wastewater management needs; and potential development and associated wastewater management. Identified and evaluated multiple wastewater disposal alternatives including the utilization of treatment capacity at other facilities municipalities.

Septic System Elimination Study, East Goshen Township, Chester County, PA
Review of existing conditions and identification and evaluation of alternatives for the elimination of septic systems for 150 residential properties in two neighborhoods in the Township. The study included review of 40-year old permit records, site evaluations, conceptual design of alternative wastewater collection systems, and presentation of findings to the public.  The study concluded that there was sufficient space on the residential properties to support new or alternate absorption fields and that the cost of installing public sewer was in excess of the benefit the sewers would bring.

Sewage Treatment Plant Elimination Update Revision, East Goshen Township, Chester County, PA
Review of existing conditions and identification and evaluation of alternatives for the elimination of a 20,000 gpd aerated lagoon sewage treatment plant with spray irrigation disposal. Includes preparation of DEP planning components, forms, notifications, narratives and analyses, and cost projections. The plant elimination will be accomplished by construction of a short gravity sewer to a nearby existing public sewer. The elimination of the plant will avoid costly plant upgrades and operating and maintenance costs associated with an aged treatment facility.

Pump Station Diversion Update Revision, East Goshen Township, Chester County, PA
Review of existing conditions and identification and evaluation of alternatives for the diversion of two pump stations from one sewage service area to another. Includes preparation of DEP planning components, forms, notifications, narratives and analyses, and cost projections. The diversions provide needed sewage capacity under an intermunicipal agreement with an adjacent Township. One diversion will be accomplished by construction of approximately 450 feet of force main and the abandonment of approximately 1,100 feet of force main.  The other diversion will be accomplished by the elimination of a pump station and construction of approximately 1,100 feet of gravity sewer.
