Storms and floods have eroded the Money Island shoreline in Downe Township, NJ, to the point where some homes are endangered. Serving as Downe Township Engineers, Pennoni Associates successfully aided in writing and achieving award of major funding for the Money Island section of the township. The project will restore the eroded shoreline, construct a bulkhead to deter future erosion and restore the original roadway for Bayview Road to its proper location. Grants secured through the Third Legislative District from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the New Jersey Department of Transportation will fund the project. The DEP Coastal Engineering grant is for $400,000. The DOT discretionary aid is about $150,000.
