Covered Bridge Restoration in Scioto County for the Otway Covered Bridge
As part of a resurgence of covered bridge restoration in Ohio, the Smith-type Covered Bridge spanning Scioto Brush Creek near the Village of Otway has been successfully rehabilitated. The project was accomplished using funding from the National Historic Covered Bridge Preservation Program and with matching state and local funds. A majority of the truss members were reused; however, the siding and roofing were replaced. The project was completed the summer of 2014. This structure, which is on the list of the National Register of Historic Places, should stand for another 141 years.
