Design of PA Turnpike Northeast Extension, MP A38 to A44
Pennoni is responsible for the preliminary and final design of an approximately seven mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Northeast Extension. The existing roadway template of two northbound and two southbaound lanes separated by a four foot median will be replaced with three northbound and three southbound lanes, separated by a 26 foot wide median and 12 foot outside shoulders. The project involves the replacement of five dual mainline bridge structures, four overhead bridge structures, and the extension of three concrete box culverts. The Quakertown Interchange will be redesigned as a diamond configuration as part of the project and the toll plaza will be eliminated in anticipation of All Electronic Tolling (AET).
