Technical Assistance to Long-Term Bridge Performance Program
Pennoni’s Intelligent Infrastructure Systems (IIS) is providing onsite, field, and remote technical assistance to the LTBP Program. This project includes the development of protocols for data collection, analysis of bridge data and, the installation and calibration of sensors. The project also includes a task to determine the feasibility of utilizing a full-scale accelerated testing facility to evaluate bridge performance specifically with respect to load, environmental effects, chemical application, and construction practices in an accelerated environment simulating real time. Pooled Fund Project TPF-5(283): The Influence of Vehicular Live Loads on Bridge Performance is also part of the project. This project’s goals are to determine and quantify the influence of trucks on bridge component performance, developing a bridge traffic database, and protocols for collecting research-quality bridge traffic data.
