University City High School
Pennoni provided Industrial Hygiene services in support of a highly visible acquisition and development of a 14-acre site housing three former schools owned by the City of Philadelphia. Drexel University is developing the site, adjacent to its main campus in West Philadelphia. Pennoni conducted a comprehensive survey of the three schools for suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead-based paint, and other universal hazardous waste, which required nearly 200 hours of on-site investigation, sampling, and documentation. Pennoni then developed plans and specifications for safe removal of all identified ACM from the buildings, including approximately 317,600 square feet of friable spray-applied fireproofing. We also conducted the bid process, made recommendation of award to the client, and provided daily QA/QC inspections and air monitoring during the abatement and building demolition, which has been taking place over a period of several months.
