C. R. “Chuck” Pennoni Receives William Penn Award
Philadelphia, PA– C.R. “Chuck” Pennoni, founder and chairman of Pennoni, a multidiscipline engineering firm, has received the 2016 William Penn Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a business executive in the region by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
“Chuck Pennoni has dedicated much time and effort into improving our Greater Philadelphia community,” said Rob Wonderling, the Chamber’s president and CEO. “Through his service on multiple boards, involvement with Drexel University and dedication to his Philadelphia-based firm, he has proven himself a regional and national business leader, and our community is fortunate to have him here.”
Since 1949, the Chamber has given this award to individuals for their outstanding contributions towards the ‘betterment of the region, professional accomplishments, and commitment to charity as well as to the community.’ As Drexel University President John A. Fry said, “Time and again, Chuck Pennoni has demonstrated that he is the consummate professional and engaged citizen — founder of one of the nation’s top engineering firms, proud of his Pennsylvania coal country roots, and dedicated to Drexel, his alma mater, in so many meaningful ways. I am honored to know Chuck as a wise mentor and dear friend.”
On receiving the award, Mr. Pennoni says “I am honored and humbled to be recognized as a recipient of the William Penn Award alongside of so many great business leaders in Greater Philadelphia. I am proud to be a part of this community, a place I have always called home. I hope to continue to grow my firm while also serving the region.”
Mr. Pennoni was honored for this award on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the William Penn Award Gala hosted at the Hyatt at the Bellevue.
