Safety at Pennoni is a top priority, and becoming a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) takes time, professional experience, and a formal evaluation of safety skills and knowledge through an exam. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals, also known as BCSP, has developed a rigorous application process to ensure that a person who becomes a CSP has met high education requirements and strict experience standards. Kate McGee of Pennoni's Philadelphia, PA headquarters recently passed the application process and is on her way to becoming a leader in the health and safety industry.

McGee is the Corporate Health and Safety Coordinator with over ten years of experience in the fields of environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, and health and safety. Her responsibilities include addressing work-related injuries, coordinating and/or providing training, auditing the firm’s compliance to safety requirements, reviewing safety plans, overseeing hazard analyses, managing the firm’s radiation safety program, completing qualification packages, and sustaining the company’s presence on third party safety auditing sites (including ISNetworld, Avetta (formerly PICs Organizer), and PEC). McGee also serves on the firm’s Health and Safety Committee.
McGee is also an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the world’s leading professional safety society. ASSE promotes provides professional development, advocacy and standards development. It also sets the occupational safety, health and environmental community’s standards for excellence and ethics.
