Industrial Hygiene Completes First Project for Miami Beach Office
Less than a month after opening, Pennoni’s Miami Beach office completed its first project for Aimco Property Management to provide professional Tank Tightness Testing services relative to Flamingo Towers – South Beach. As the project was for one of Pennoni’s key clients and through our growing industrial hygiene discipline, R. Alan Lloyd, CIH, CSP, associate vice president and principal industrial hygienist of the Haddon Heights, NJ office flew out and managed the testing. The test was performed utilizing precision methodology to accurately determine the tightness of a 3000-gallon underground storage tank (UST). Tank tightness testing identifies suspected releases when release detection results indicate a possible release. Tank tightness testing is recommended any time a facility changes ownership or is brought back on line after being temporarily closed for any period of time. For the Flamingo Tower Apartments in South Beach, FL, this was completed as part of an annual inspection. The UST was tested using the TEI 5000 testing equipment (non-volumetric vacuum system). Testing for the UST required data collection over a minimum 30 minutes. If you do not know, Tank tightness testing checks the integrity of the tank, including the portion containing liquid and the empty portion of the tank, known as the Ullage.
In addition, per the existing O&M plan, Pennoni evaluated the existing monitoring wells for the presence/absence of petroleum.
Pennoni is looking forward to many more project successes out of the Miami Beach/Southeast area.
