Former U.S. Ambassador Elected to Pennoni Board of Directors
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Pennoni, an award-winning multidiscipline engineering, science, and design consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Joseph M. Torsella, a former U.S. Representative to the United Nations for Management and Reform, has joined the firm’s board of directors. Ambassador Torsella was elected to his first term of service for Pennoni during the firm’s annual shareholder’s meeting in March.
Ambassador Torsella served as U.S. Representative to the United Nations for Management and Reform from April 2011 to January 2014. Nominated by President Barack Obama, Torsella was the architect and chief public spokesperson for US government efforts to reform the UN system and budget.
Within Pennsylvania, he was the founding president and served two terms as CEO of the National Constitution Center, where he was recently elected as a board member. He also acted as chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education, and held the role of Deputy Mayor of the City of Philadelphia from 1992 to 1993.
Ambassador Torsella will join returning board members to represent shareholders and to advise in the firm’s growth and success. Pennoni is employee-owned through its participation in an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), overseen by the board of directors.
