New Leadership in Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill, NC – Pennoni is pleased to announce that Justin Brown, PE, has recently been named Office Director of the firm’s Chapel Hill office.  Pennoni is also pleased to announce that Barry Gleissner, PLS, PP, CFM, has joined the firm as the office’s new Director of Survey.

As Office Director, Justin Brown will be responsible for developing and maintaining new client relationships, identifying business opportunities, and overseeing the office’s existing client base.  He is tasked with continuing the growth of the office through staff additions and new project opportunities throughout the Triangle metropolitan region and the State.  Justin joined Pennoni in July of 2015, and during his tenure has managed the office’s relationship with several local and national development clients and has been an integral part of the recent approval for the region’s first Wegmans grocery store.  The 130,000 SF store, located on 14.7-acres along US 15-501, will be the New York based grocer’s first location in North Carolina. Three other stores are proposed for Cary and Raleigh.

Prior to joining Pennoni, Justin was a project manager in the Raleigh office of Bohler Engineering where he specialized in commercial land development.  It is this experience that has enabled Pennoni to augment its relationship with several prominent private land development clients. “Justin’s years of experience in business and client development brings a wealth of knowledge to our organization,” said Susan Wolford, PLA, AICP, LEED Green Associate and Pennoni’s Regional Vice President. “The firm is confident in both Justin and Barry’s leadership abilities and we look forward to leveraging their guidance and expertise to continue our growth in Chapel Hill and throughout North Carolina.”

Justin is a graduate of the State University of New York, Institute of Technology of Utica, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He is a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina and New York. He is also an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and other local industry associations.

Barry has over 35 years of industry experience throughout the northeast United States.  His primary areas of expertise include ALTA/ACSM land title surveys, right-of-way surveys, existing condition and topographic mapping, as-built survey, expert witness testimony, and the preparation of various deed descriptions and plats.  Among his professional strengths is his ability to integrate into every project, safety, quality and good communication from project inception through completion.
