Pennoni Receives TDM Award for Sustainability

Pennoni is honored to be recognized as a Platinum Level Sustainability company by Greater Valley Forge’s 2017 TDM Awards. Pennoni is ranked as ‘Platinum Level’ in terms of company-wide sustainability alongside AECOM, Vanguard, McMahon and TransNet. Greater Valley Forge (GVF) promotes community commuting alternatives and their annual Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Awards recognizes employers who have incorporated TDM initiatives into their work environment. TDM continuously seeks to address issues of congestion by reducing demand of travel rather than increasing the supply of the existing road network, and Pennoni has proven to do the same.

Pennoni was recognized for initiatives and participation in sustainable efforts involving commuting as well as environmental awareness. Pennoni, founded in 1966 has grown to over 1,200 employees with 35 offices along the East Coast, encourages the use of public transportation commuting, hosts a bike room in the firm’s Philadelphia Headquarters, encourages employees in all offices to participate in the national Bike to Work program, and chooses Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) office buildings whenever possible.

The firm recently relocated their Philadelphia office to 1900 Market Street, a LEED certified building. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system. LEED offers third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at reducing energy and water usage, promoting better indoor air quality, and improving quality of life.
