Pennoni to Present 2018 Ellipse Award to Dana L. Redd

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Pennoni is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2018 Ellipse Award is Dana L. Redd, former Democratic member of the New Jersey Senate and former Mayor of Camden, NJ. Ms. Redd currently serves as CEO of Rowan University/Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors. The Ellipse Award is bestowed annually to a member of the community who has improved the quality of life through pioneering or innovative approaches to infrastructure development or redevelopment. Ms. Redd will receive the award at the annual Ellipse Gala on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

As Mayor for two terms, Ms. Redd was the catalyst for the ongoing revitalization in the City of Camden. Under her guidance, the City experienced a developmental resurgence with billions of dollars in public and private investment, helped along by generous state tax breaks; a construction boom brought on by companies including Holtec Internationaland Subaru moving from the suburbs, massive projects by developers Liberty Property Trust and Brandywine Realty Trust, and expansions by longtime institutions Cooper University Health Care and Rutgers University. During her tenure as mayor, a specific focus was placed on new development throughout all Camden neighborhoods and the continued redevelopment of the Camden Waterfront, which is now home to a mix of companies in various industries including the Philadelphia 76ers training facility, multiple office towers, luxury apartments and more.

In her time as Mayor, Ms. Redd’s priority was bringing out the best of Camden. Ms. Redd’s ongoing commitment to rebuilding the city’s infrastructure and creating a thriving urban core exemplifies the qualities of an Ellipse Award recipient. To date, Ms. Redd continues to tackle the tough issues in Camden by making difficult choices and pursuing sustainable solutions.

“Dana’s vision of Camden as a thriving beacon of business, community, and success, as well as her ability to selflessly lead change to make that vision a reality, are among the reasons she has been chosen as the recipient of the 2018 Ellipse Award,” said Pennoni Founder and Chairman, C.R. “Chuck” Pennoni, PE.
