Information

Longwood Gardens has long been a destination in Chester County and the surrounding region. More than 1,000 acres of botanical gardens and associated land uses are in three different municipalities. Longwood is visited by more than one million people annually with their busiest period in November and December for their holiday light show. Pennoni completed professional engineering services for the design-build of a 1.57 MW Photovoltaic System across US Route 1 from Longwood Gardens. The alternative energy client GroSolar was looking to develop up to five acres with a Photovoltaic Ground-Based System. Pennoni provided survey, geotechnical services, civil/site engineering, MEP engineering, and structural engineering services for this project.

Pennoni was again retained to provide survey, geotechnical, civil/site design and landscape architecture for the new 1,200 car overflow parking lot. The challenge of constructing a parking lot in a former green space is largely stormwater. The site utilizes bioretention and infiltration basins as well as an underground system to manage stormwater concerns.
