Morrisville’s South End Water Booster station is designed to provide up to 2.5 million gallons of emergency water storage in its precast steel-wrapped storage tank. Pennoni prepared plans and specifications for the project. The station was constructed on the site of the former automobile salvage yard, where extensive environmental sampling and a Soil and Ground Water management plan was prepared to deal with contaminated soil.
Some of the features of the station include: an instantaneous flow of 4,200 GPM at a discharge pressure of 100 psig (230 feet) via high and low service distribution pumps; use of sodium hypochlorite chemical feed and main free chlorine residuals in both the storage tank and station discharge; discharge flow and pressure modulated via VFD motor controls; the storage tank contains a submerged mixer and TMHH removal system; the station is monitored and controlled remotely by an operator at the main system; and is connected to the main treatment plant with a SCADA system.
