The Philadelphia Navy Yard is 1,200 acres of diverse urban development along 6 miles of waterfront, home to more than 13,000 employees and 150 companies. Committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability, the area has been undergoing improvements for more than a decade. Pennoni provided the site design and electrical engineering for the solar feeding the Philadelphia Navy Yard’s advanced microgrid. The 425 kW solar project was developed and owned by the Alternative Energy Development Group under a Power Purchase Agreement model and is one of the first Community Solar Projects in the state of Pennsylvania. Pennoni also provided structural engineering services to Ameresco and Miller Bros. for the construction of the 6 MW Peaker Plant.
