Information

The Kalahari Resort at Pocono Manor is an authentically African themed waterpark resort and convention center. The multi-use development consists of Kalahari Resort, retail space and residential units and is located in Monroe County, PA. Kalahari Resort opened in July 2015 and includes a 200,000-sf indoor water park, a 15-acre outdoor waterpark, a 1,000-room hotel, and a 200,000-sf convention center.

Pennoni oversaw full time construction observation and services for Kalahari Resorts. These services included sewer and water, main access road work, ramp widening and part time inspection for the site work, and construction inspections and permits.

The construction of Kalahari Resorts required site design of the roads, water and sewer utilities, landscaping, and storm water management. Pennoni provided a reliable source of water to the complex by designing a water transmission, storage and distribution system. The nearest public water connection was 3.5 miles away and 800-ft. below the proposed water park. Traffic impact evaluations were also conducted for the development of Kalahari Resorts. The traffic impacts recommended relocating a roadway, constructing various turn lanes, and completing other roadway improvements to accommodate the anticipated traffic.
